  • A candidate need not meet every criteria to be considered. 

At the end of each Open Stage season the Hill City Arts Council gives the Steve Thorpe Music Award to a deserving performer. Steve Thorpe is a pillar of the music community in the Black Hills: A "regular" at Open Stage, he exemplifies the criteria established for the award.

Each winter the Hill City Arts Council sponsors Open Stage—a favorite Black Hills experience for local performers and audiences alike. Now at High Country Guest Ranch, it’s a real hometown event. Favorite local and regional singer/songwriters and poets are regulars, but storytellers, dancers, jugglers, and joke tellers are welcome too.
